W's 1st Christmas

Christmas was wonderful! Wyatt was so great. He loved opening his gifts. He was so spoiled this year. He got new wagon, a lion push toy, a play table, a music player, a guitar, a mini couch/bed, and a lot of other smaller toys. But, he only has his 1st Christmas once, right?!?

Wyatt's 1st Thanksgiving

Yesterday was Wyatt's first Thanksgiving. We went to my in-laws house, and had a wonderful day. Wyatt tried some turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, and whipped cream. He's favorites were the turkey and pie. I guess all the excitement kept him up, because he hardly napped at all and we had a hard time getting him to go to bed. He was overly tired and cranky. But, overall it was a great day. I am just so excited about Christmas now. My husband is at home today putting up the tree. And we are having another Thanksgiving dinner tonight with my Dad. I think Wyatt is going to have a great first Christmas. It really feels like this will be our 1st Christmas as "Family" because before Wyatt was here seemed different. I am unfortunately stuck at work, just counting down the minutes until I can get out of here. :)

Santa Claus

I took Wyatt today to the mall to have his first picture taken with Santa. They got one good picture before he started crying. When we first arrived I was worried, but thought he would do good because he smiled at Santa. But, once I set him down on his lap he got concerned. They got his picture right before he started crying.

Baby fever

Wyatt is 7 months old today! Where has the time gone?!? Is it crazy of me to already be thinking of #2? Some days it seems like everyone is getting pregnant! And I really miss it. Wyatt has been so amazing, would it be tempting fate to think we could have another child as wonderful as he? And a healthy pregnancy, and speedy recovery?!? I know for sure I want to have at least 1 other child. I have a sister, and I loved that experience growing up. I really don't want Wyatt to be an only child. But, when is the right time? My husband, Adam, and I have both agreed to wait until Wyatt is 1 year old, to start really thinking of when to try for #2. But, I still can't help thinking of it all the time. However, since I had a c-section, I'm in no hurry to get pregnant again. And for many reasons, including finances, I think August would be a great time to conceive again. That would make Wyatt and baby #2 about 25 months apart. Do you think that is too close?!? I originally always said I wanted to wait 3 years before getting pregnant again, but that was before Wyatt was born. Now, I can't wait to experience it all again, and give Wyatt a little brother or sister... I guess when it's time we will just know.

Buddha Belly- Baby Picture Sunday

Today, I stumbled across a really cute blog, Who Says 8 is Enough?. And Sundays are Baby Picture Sunday, so I thought I would join in the fun. This weeks theme is Buddha Bellies! You can join in the fun too, by checking out her blog here. Here is Wyatt's buddha belly! (I couldn't pick just one.)

First boo-boo

Last night Wyatt had his first injury! It scared me half to death. The little guy has been so adventurous lately. He has been trying to climb up and over anything and everything. Well, last night he tried to climb up onto the lower level of the coffee table, and he slipped. He smacked his face right into the table. I quickly picked him up to hug and console him. Then I notice his nose was bleeding!!!! Poor little guy. Thankfully it only bled for a few seconds, and he calmed down very quickly. He is doing fine today, but I just felt awful! I'm sure it's only the first of many boo-boo's to come. As I can already tell he is going to be a handful!

Wyatt's First Halloween

For Wyatt's first Halloween we stayed in and passed out candy to all the trick-or-treaters. It was a lot fun. Wyatt was a monkey, but his costume kind of looked like a bear. Either way he was so cute!

Happy 1/2 birthday!

Wyatt is now 6 months old! Wow I can't believe how fast the time has flown! Today I took him to the park for the first time. We met some other babies and moms for a playdate. It was arranged through Kansascitymommies. It was a lot of fun.

Wyatt's 4 months old!

Wyatt's sleeping through the night now. Overall he is just such a happy, carefree baby. We are so blessed. Every day I just feel so happy to have such a great life. I am truly lucky to have such a wonderful husband and son.

Update on sleeping habits

Ok, the night before last Wyatt actually slept for a whole 8 hours! I was shocked! I woke up at about 2:45am and heard him making a little noise, so I was about to get up. I thought "this is pretty good, he did sleep from about 9:30pm". But, before I even got out of bed, he fell back asleep, so I followed suit. No complaining from me!
When I woke up at 5:30am I thought for sure my clock had to be wrong! Nope, he had actually slept all night. Could he do this every night? Or was this a fluke?
Only time will tell, but last night he didn't do so good. Still better than it has been, but not all night. He woke up a couple times around 4am, which still is better than every 3 hours. So we will just have to wait and see how he does. I am really going to try to get him in a routine of having a full bottle, then goind to bed every night around 9pm. Hopefully that will help him get capable of sleeping all night. I just don't think I am ready to try the "cry it out" method, so I am going to try everything before resorting to that.

First dip in the pool!

I took Wyatt for his first swim last week. It was a lot of fun. He didn't really seem to mind the water, and kind of splashed around a bit. I really hope he comes to like the water as much as I did growing up. Swimming was always one of my favorite activities during the summer. It is also such good excercise, I really hope he will enjoy it.

Wyatt's photo shoot

I took Wyatt to have his pictures taken today. He was so great. I scheduled the appointment for 10am, hoping he would be awake and in a good mood around that time. He was a little sleepy when we first got there, but he quickly woke up and was hamming it up for the cameras. He just loves having his pictures taken. It is so great. After our outfit change he did get a little upset, we took a break, and he ate. After getting full he was much better. Here are some of the best photos we got.

Happy Birthday Wyatt!

Adam and I arrived at the hospital Monday, April 14th a little before 8pm. We were going in for a scheduled induction, because we thought Wyatt was going to 9lbs. and we didn't want him to get any bigger. Plus, I couldn't wait any longer to see him! By this point I was so done with being pregnant, but the last weeks of my pregnancy really were not that bad. I worked up until Monday at about 11am. After that I went to lunch with Sarah and I was just SO excited. I couldn't wait to hold Wyatt in my arms.
As we arrived at the hospital, and I was being admitted, I did get very nervous. It was all suddenly so real. It was really happening, I wasn't leaving the hospital until Wyatt was born. I was hooked up to an IV, and a contraction monitor. The nurse said I was already having contractions, but I hadn't even noticed. At about 9pm they administered cervadil and around 10:30pm they said I could eat. I hadn't been able to eat anything since lunch. However, with it being so late, my choices were limited, and I didn't really want fast food. So, I ate a sandwich, chips, yogurt and a rice crispy treat that the hospital gave me. If only I had known it would be 35+ hours till I would eat again...
After that Adam and I watched some tv, then we tried to watch I, Robot on the laptop, but I dozed off.
Tuesday morning at about 7am Dr. G broke my water, and we hoped things would really get moving. I have to say I was so happy with my nurse, Jade. You really don't realize how little your doctor is going to be there during your labor. I got so lucky to have such a great nurse, because she was there through it all.
By the afternoon everyone was calling asking if Wyatt was here yet. But, nope, no baby yet.
I made it to 3 cm dialated, and the pain was unbearable, so I got a dose of stadol, which helped. It basically made me not care that I was in such pain. But, I still felt the pain. After a second dose of stadol, which didn't help as much as the first, I got the epidural.
At first I was a little afraid to get the epidural, but it was a piece of cake, and provided SO much relief. However, I did still feel a lot of pressure and they had to add medicine twice to my epidural.
Finally around 10pm I was 9cm. I thought for sure this baby would be coming soon. Nope, at about 11:30 Dr. G decided I was actually going down, and was only 8cm, so we needed to go for the c-section. I remember seeing the clock, and wondering if Wyatt would be born before midnight.
The nurses quickly got me into the operating room. I remember them giving Adam the scrubs and footies to put on, and he couldn't get them over his shoes! That was the last I saw of him for awhile.
Laying in the operating room, waiting for Adam seemed to take forever. I kept seeing people with scrubs and masks come in, wondering if one of them was Adam. Finally Adam came in and things were really happening.
I can't remember much except seeing Wyatt over the screen. They held him up and even though he was messy, he was the most amazing thing I've ever seen! Adam went over and took some video of him as they were cleaning him up and everything. Then Adam brought the camera over to me and I saw Wyatt! He was so amazing, I think I cried at this point. Then they actually brought him over by my face... the whole experience was so unreal. Then they put him on a scale and weighed him in at 8lbs. 5oz.
Adam went with Wyatt to be cleaned better while I stayed in the operating room to be stitched up. I got very sick at this point, and was in and out of it. Finally when I was back in my hospital room it was 2:30am. I FINALLY got to hold Wyatt. It was so amazing, but I was so EXHAUSTED! Adam then took Wyatt out to the hall to his parents, and I passed out.
I don't remember exactly when they brought Wyatt in that next morning, but having him in my arms, he was all mine. It was all over, nothing else mattered, it was just him and me. I finally got to see this little guy that had been kicking around inside for all these months.

We're having a baby boy!

Here is the ultrasound from 30 weeks, 5 days.
